El Tour de Tucson 08

This weekend over 8,000 riders participated in the Tour de Tucson, a 109 mile bike ride around the city of Tucson.

Bill trained for months.....he followed a strict diet, exercised, researched, visualized and prepared for this race! He spent thousands of dollars on the best equipment available and his body was in ultimate condition. He was ready! and he wanted to WIN!

READY.....SET...............Flat Tire!!
Approximately 15 miles into the race, Bill's tire exploded. Racers zoomed by him at 30 miles per hour as he sat on the curb. There was no way for him to repair the tire and still be in position to finish at the top. That was it....he was done.

Bill was very disappointed and frustrated, but kept things in perspective. It was only a race. There will be others. Things happen for a reason. He was not hurt. etc. Still, there is an indescribable let down after working on a goal for so long and not being able to accomplish it....due to circumstances beyond your control. However, Bill has already set new goals and plans to compete in a Triathlon next month. And we're ready to cheer him on.....again!

we were all so disappointed to hear about this on Saturday; and a little scared to see him on Wednesday. He is incredible and it will be awesome to see how the triathlon goes! let me know when it is; it would be fun to go and eat donuts on the sidelines.
