- Read "Gone with the Wind" by Margaret Mitchell.......CHECK!

Yes, I finally finished all 1037 pages of it! Have you ever done something because you want to be able to say you've done it? For me, reading "Gone with the Wind" was one of those things. My sister-in-law Laura gave it to me and said it was her favorite book ever (or something like that...now it's been so long I can't remember.) I'd give it a try. I have never seen the movie either, figured it was a classic and something I needed to read.
It took me forever! I love to read and usually fly through books pretty quickly. This "classic" was hard for me. There were few components that typically keep my attention....no CIA agents, no mysteries to figure out, no crime scene investigators, no psychotic murderers. However, there was plenty of marriage woes, death and civil war history. Let me just say, I think Scarlett O'Hara was crazy! She was a great case study for me....so many issues. And I love Rhett Butler....unconventional, loved his daughter so much, didn't care what people thought of him, smart money maker, ladies man, political, etc. Reminded me of Billy. :)
Overall, I enjoyed the book and the last 100 pages were worth it. You may want to add it to your list of things to do. Just to say you've done it. This weekend......the movie version. Does anyone know if there was a sequel to the book?

I'm so disappointed you didn't love it as much as I did. I guess you lack the essence of English Literature. It takes a special person to be able to appreciate it. Just kidding! My next recommend? The glass house...now theres a case study!
BTW...don't' bother with the movie; it's awful acting. Also, the book is "the glass castle". I'm almost done if you want to borrow it. Quick reading.
I loved it! I have read the book and yeah...I never thought of it as a case study but Scarlet was so intriguing to me. She had such an odd little mind at work, and I have to disagree I loved the movie! Loved it! It puts things into better perspective for me. I loved Melly! There is a sequel....the book is called Scarlet. The book is worth it if you can stand it! But the movie was totally second rate! But, of coarse I saw it anyway!(confession time...I own it :} Dee
Now all you have to do is put reading the original "Les Miserables" on your list.
btw, I love this movie (gone with the wind) and just watched it again a few days ago and was thinking I should read the book to see all the details the movie probably left out.
