The Nutcracker Ballet

Last weekend we went to see The Nutcracker presented by Ballet Etudes. We were excited to spend a girls night out on the town together. So we dressed up, went out for dinner and headed to the Chandler Center for the Arts.

It was a beautiful place and the girls loved the fancy chandeliers, paintings and Christmas decorations. Even Santa was there, waiting for us in the lobby.

The performance was amazing! The dancers were so graceful and so talented. The girls really enjoyed it.....even though there were no words! I read them the story line before hand and explained how the music and actions of the dancers told the story on stage. I love exposing them to a little cultural arts every once in awhile. A little Tchaikovsky helps balance out the karate and horse riding.

We had great seats......thanks Grandma Raine! She bought the tickets and was suppose to go with us, but was not able to at the last minute. We missed her! My sister Amber and her little daughter Kaya went with us instead. However, that didn't last long. Kaya wanted to get up on the stage and dance with the ballerinas! It was just too much "Be quiet and sit still!" for a 3 year old. They left at intermission.
It remember going to see the Nutcracker with my mom when I was younger. I hope my girls will remember our night together. Maybe we'll make it a yearly tradition!

Glad to hear you had a fun time "without me". I was so looking forward to going with the girls that's why I bought the tickets but "had" to go to Fred's work Christmas party ... bummer! Maybe next year.
