Bill and his brother (Uncle) Ryan have been BYU fans since they were little boys. Ty Detmer use to be their hero. The obsession has been ignited again. Last year, little Ryan was in Mrs. Bright's 3rd grade and her son Travis plays on the team, offensive lineman #74! Needless to say, we have a new hero!
So since last year we have followed BYU Football closely.....Travis sent Ryan a poster autographed by the team, we have the game schedule posted on our fridge, Ryan wears her BYU t-shirt often, Mrs. Bright keeps us updated on insider info. and we talk about Travis like he is part of the family. We got to meet him after the game.

Last year, Billy took little Ryan to the same Las Vegas Bowl (BYU vs. UCLA) .....the game in which Travis fractured his leg late in the game. And this year, Billy decided to take us all! Uncle Ryan drove down from Reno to go with us and we met up with some friends. The game was so much fun.
Unfortunately....It was so cold in Vegas ! Highs in the 40's. There was still snow on the ground from the storm that week.
Fortunately.....We bought cold weather gear (cuz you know we don't own any) like scarfs, gloves, beanie hats, tights for under our jeans, etc. We cuddled alot and had hot chocolate.
Fortunately....Our seats were great! Right on the 50 yard line, row 24!
He yelled and screamed the entire game. After the 1st quarter I thought, "There's no way he can keep this up the whole time." I was wrong. He cheered the whole time! He was the fan who got the whole section chanting. You know the kind. He yells "U of...." and everyone else yells "A". He yells "DE...." and everyone else yells "FENSE".

Fortunately, he was super nice and we all became friends very quickly. He was there with his sister and parents from Tucson. He and little Ryan bantered back and forth. It was awesome. Ryan being the fanatic that she is, didn't take his UofA crap. He would yell "U of A" and Ryan would yell "STINKS!" He would try to give her five and she would leave him hanging. She was not afraid to stand up for her team amid evil Blue and Red. I love that girl.

Fortunately, we got to stay with wonderful friends Jonathan and Stephanie Waite who live in Henderson. Jonathan and Billy went to High School together in Reno. They have a beautiful home and awesome daughters to play with! All the girls giggled and played and giggled and played the whole weekend. We hardly ever saw them.
Unfortunately, Steph didn't go to the game with us. She's pregnant and I don't think she minded having a little peace and quite for the evening.
Fortunately, we had a great time anyway!!!
Next up.....hopefully Travis will play in the NFL and we can travel to a pro-game!
